Top al-Qaida figure in Iraq captured, while Senate debates to leave Iraq

That headline can’t be right- top al-Qaida figure in Iraq captured, okay, that’s good- while Senate debates to leave Iraq, that doesn’t make much sense.

Khaled Abdul-Fattah Dawoud Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, also known as Abu Shahid, was captured in Mosul on July 4, said Brig. Gen. Kevin Bergner, a military spokesman.

“Al-Mashhadani is believed to be the most senior Iraqi in the al-Qaida in Iraq network,” Bergner said. He said al-Mashhadani was a close associate of Abu Ayub al-Masri, the Egyptian-born head of al-Qaida in Iraq.

They also were able to find out from him that the groups foreign based leadership weilds considerable influence over the Iraqi chapter. Here is a leader with direct ties between al-Masari and bin Laden and al-Zawahri. This is another job well done by our troops overseas who need our support more than ever nowadays.

Thank God that the Senate has brought in cots to try and remove those same troops. Where would be without our great Congress? Actually, don’t answer that, it will hurt your head.
