Johnny Sutton Taking A Shot In The Buttocks

Yesterday, The Senate Judiciary Committee held hearings on the prosecution of imprisoned Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean.  The Senators are looking into U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton’s justification for giving blanket immunity to an illegal alien drug smuggler to testify, so that Sutton could prosecute the two agents.  In addition, the Senators are demanding the reasons behind Sutton filing charges of attempted murder, which led to 11 and 12 year sentences for Ramos and Compean.

Senators Diane Feinstein, Jeff Sessions, John Cornyn, Jon Kyl and Tom Coburn demanded Johnny Sutton to provide answers in the decision making process for his controversial efforts in this case of possible cover up.

It’s apparent that Sutton’s decision to file attempted murder charges against Ramos and Compean was far reaching.  To pursue the maximum sentence by using a U.S. Code that is designed for suspects, who have an underlining crime when an attempt to murder is acted out, was far reaching.  Not only were the charges far reaching, but Johnny Sutton’s determination to pursue harsh mandatory prison terms is an absolute outrage, and it’s been felt across the country.

The Senate Judiciary Committee grilled Sutton over what is obviously seen as a blatant use and abuse of prosecutorial power.  The Committee was dumb founded to the fact that Johnny Sutton would go out of his way to bring an illegal alien back into the U.S., give immunity to a known drug smuggler, who was in a high speed chase with Border Patrol Agents because his van was loaded with hundreds of pounds of drugs, fought and injured an Agent, ran from Agents, then showed what appeared to Ramos to be a weapon and as a result Sutton’s boy was shot in the buttcheek.

Yesterday, Senators Feinstein and Cornyn announced that they are going to formally request that President Bush commute Agents Ramos and Compean.  I must say that I am pleased to see Senator Feinstein recognizes the absolute injustice of these two brave heroes who defended our country.  Politics aside, she is doing a good thing here and I’m sure the families of Ramos and Compean are very appreciative, not to mention all of us who were looking for someone to step forward on this important matter.  If the President is smart, he will not hesitate to make the right decision and the right one would be to grant a full Presidential Pardon, not a commute… But at least we’re now going in the right direction.

After this is all said and done, I hope more senate or congressional hearings will be held for a more in depth look into Johnny Sutton’s actions as U.S. Attorney.  You know, this isn’t the first time this rogue prosecutor has destroyed the lives of law enforcement personnel, while letting criminals walk the streets…
