Who’s protecting us?

The US House of Representatives once again rejected the building of a security fence on our southern border.   The funding for such a fence has already been passed.  There’s just one problem, no one is building it.  So far, only a few miles of the proposed 854 mile fence have been built.  Considering it took approximately 13 months to build the Empire State Building, what exactly is taking so long?  It seems that our representatives don’t want that fence built.  In a vote of 272 to 149, the House voted against the double layered security fence

“With over 4,000 people crossing our southern border illegally every day, our border remains one of our country’s most critical national security vulnerabilities. In order to carry out an act of terrorism, a militant Islamist simply needs a porous border and a dangerous weapon,” said Franks in a statement.

So as the House votes down measures to secure us, the Senate tries to re-hash a horrible immigration bill that 3/4 of Americans oppose. As if the overall plan wasn’t enough to make you wonder what your Congressman were doing, the Senior Citizens League has warned that the new immigration bill has close to $1 Trillion (that’s with a T) in hidden costs.

The immigration bill being debated by the Senate would allow more than 2 million illegal workers who received Social Security numbers prior to 2004 to receive more than $966 billion in Social Security benefits by 2040

Guess who’s footing that bill? What happened to all the money the Congressman said would be coming into our country with this bill. They never factor any of this in, in fact, not one Senator has done a cost analysis on this bill. When was the last time that happened?
