Middle East Update

There are so many things happening every day, that its impossible to take the time to go through each of them fully.  So, let’s look at some of the biggest stories:

Mideast May See Full Scale War

UN envoy Terje Roed-Larsen has warned that the Middle East could see a full scale war

“The picture which emerges is very dark, and apparently getting darker,” he said.

“So there are reasons for real concerns in the international community.”

Hamas Takes Over Northern Gaza Strip

Hamas attacked a number of Fatah security bases

Hamas also announced that Fatah must evacuate all buildings used by Military Intelligence, the Revolutionary Guard, National Security and Preventive Security.

Hamas and Fatah signed a truce and agreed on setting up a unity government in Riyadh under the auspices of Saudi Arabia in March, but gunmen in Gaza took to the streets on numerous occasions since then and internecine bloodshed never ceased completely.

Reid Says That Strike on Iran Would be Destabalizing

In another Statement of Brilliance from one of the leaders of the ‘Idiots in Washington’, Harry Reid (D-NV):

rejected on Monday another prominent senator’s call for a military strike against Iran, saying a U.S. attack would destabilize the Middle East

Am I missing something? Is the Middle East stable? Did I oversleep and miss that one? I know people love to print the approval rating of George W Bush and how it’s at about 33%, but Reid, who leads the Democratic party is at 16%. But of course, just as we seen with the government, Reid has offered no solutions. It’s more we’re going to encourage the Iranians to live up to their end of the deal.
