Am I really agreeing with the people of Vermont?

Now, I’ll be the first to admit, that due to political landscape, the people of Vermont are typically on the opposite side of the argument as myself.  Vermont actually has a grassroots succession campaign. Yes, that’s right, succession, removing themselves from the Union. Now, I wouldn’t go that far to say that I’m a succession supporter, however, I have to actually agree with this statement:

“The argument for secession is that the U.S. has become an empire that is essentially ungovernable- it’s too big, it’s too corrupt and it no longer serves the needs of its citizens,” said Rob Williams, editor of Vermont Commons, a quarterly newspaper dedicated to secession.

We are living in an age, where for one reason or another, our elected officials simply don’t listen. You need to look no further than the huge immigration debate that has Capital Hill phone lines absolutely flooded. Vermont’s percentage is still low, but to have 13% of the citizens believe in succession has to make you wonder.
